Fresh Arugula

Arugula is an herbaceous annual plant native to Europe and western Asia. Also known as rocket, this pungent smelling herb was known to the Romans. A member of the cabbage family, Arugula is related to watercress, mustard and radishes. It is particularly popular in the south of France, Italy, and in Egypt.
This plant grows to a height of about 20 inches and has tender green leaves that are smooth, sharply indented, and irregularly shaped, like those of dandelion. The piquant flavor of Arugula is reminiscent of watercress.
